Tips to Get more life out of your battery

Want your battery to go the distance? Here are a few quick and easy ways to keep it in top nick:

Keep it clean. A dirty battery doesn’t just look bad; grime and corrosion can mess with its performance. Give it a quick wipe-down now and then to keep it healthy.

Check the fluid. If your battery isn’t sealed, make sure the plates are covered by about 4mm of electrolyte. Top up with distilled water if it’s looking low.

Use it, but don’t abuse it. Batteries like balance. If your car’s been sitting idle for weeks, take it for a spin to keep things charged up. Taking a long holiday? Ask someone to drive it occasionally.

On the flip side, if you’re driving every day, maybe give it a break now and then. Try walking, carpooling or taking public transport once in a while.
